Ballad of Bilbo Baggins
Just some quickie links today, as I'm rushing out the door to go hang out with my brothers and Jonathan tonight:
- Leonard Nimoy sings the Ballad of Bilbo Baggins
- Interesting notes on the psychology of colors.
- Studies show that we're getting less sunlight than we used to.
- Looks like my little computer shop will be locked out of being able to assemble you a computer than can playback HD-DVD.

You know things like this start to make me wonder if the next-gen DVDs are going to go the way of divx (not the codec).
Everyone always talks about the 'format war' and the assumption that one will ultimately lose. But if both are equally restrictive, kinda makes you wonder if in the end consumers will reject them both.
I remember one analyst actually putting it that its not so much the 2 next-gen formats against each other, but rather versus the current DVD. In that regard, divx sure didn't stand up. Maybe the "next-gen" won't either.
I'm sure not inspired to help them out.
Nor I

$500-900...amount of money to build from scratch a kick ass computer that can play everything from roms to Doom and beyond
$2000-6000...amount of money to buy a "big name" pc whose only good feature is playing hi-def
Priceless...pissing off the base of people who watch and buy your movies
